Completed in 2026, the Carmel Road residence is a modern single-level estate in south Charlotte, built by Peters Custom Homes. The home is organized around a glass entry pavilion framed in warm wood cladding, with crisp white stucco wings extending to either side and wood-clad garage bays anchoring each end of the composition.

Arrival begins in a broad motor court laid out as a grid of pale pavers set in turf — a landscape detail that softens the hardscape and reads as an extension of the architecture's clean geometry. Mature hardwoods surround the site and remain visible through nearly every window in the house.

Inside, a double-height foyer pairs a black ceiling and black structural columns with white walls and a full steel-framed window wall, so the first view is straight through the house to the trees beyond. Sculptural brass chandeliers hang through the volume and set the tone for a home where contrast, light and material carry the design.

A Modern Plan Built Around Light

The main living spaces flow from the living room into the dining room and kitchen along a continuous sightline. Floor-to-ceiling black-framed glass opens the rooms to the landscape, while wide-plank white oak floors run throughout and keep the palette warm against the dark accents. The living room is anchored by a tiled fireplace wall with a long linear firebox and a textured wall finish; the dining room answers it with a black paneled feature wall, a round brass mirror and a glass-globe chandelier over a dark table for ten.

The Kitchen and Scullery

The kitchen centers on a long island with a waterfall stone top over wood-grain cabinetry, lined with brass-framed counter stools and lit by a sculptural linear pendant. Flat-panel white cabinetry and integrated appliances keep the main elevation quiet, and a garden-facing window sits behind the sink run. A separate scullery kitchen, with its own sink, integrated refrigeration and matching wood-grain cabinetry, handles prep and cleanup out of view of guests.

The Primary Suite

The primary bedroom is wrapped in glass on two sides and opens directly to a covered terrace. A full-height fluted wood wall behind the bed brings warmth and texture to the room, and a recessed tray ceiling adds height. The suite includes a private coffee bar with a beverage refrigerator, and the primary bath is finished in large-format marble-look tile with a sculptural freestanding tub, a walk-in shower and a dedicated vanity.

Details That Carry Through

Smaller rooms receive the same attention as the main spaces. The powder room pairs a carved stone pedestal sink with a backlit round mirror set against dark herringbone tile, and the gallery hall uses the home's black-column motif to frame a console and art wall. Black window frames, brass lighting and white oak tie every room back to the same restrained material palette.
