TRANSITIONAL FAMILY ESTATE

The Carmel Park residence is a transitional family estate in south Charlotte, built by Peters Custom Homes. The front elevation pairs deep navy siding with stacked natural stone, and the entry is set beneath an arched stone gable with exposed timber framing. Tall two-story glass panels rise on either side of the entry, bringing daylight deep into the house.

The home sits on a wooded lot with mature hardwoods. A stone-pier drive leads to a paver motor court and separate garage wings, keeping vehicles away from the main entry.

Behind the house, the lot is laid out for family living: a pool and spa on a travertine deck, a covered porch with a stone fireplace and an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit terrace, and a sport court and batting cage set into the lawn.

A Two-Story Great Room

Inside, an oversized wood entry door opens to the foyer and an open-riser staircase with a horizontal cable rail. The great room rises two stories, with a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace surround, a linear firebox and open built-in shelving on both sides. Stacked windows and glass doors look out to the pool terrace, and dark wide-plank hardwood runs through the main level.

The Kitchen

The kitchen opens directly to the great room. A long navy island with open end shelving and seating anchors the space beneath a row of glass pendants. White shaker cabinetry rises to the ceiling, and the range wall has a pro-style range, a pot filler, a vented hood and a tiled backsplash. Nearby are a breakfast nook with terrace doors, a coffee and beverage bar with under-counter refrigeration, and a dining room with a tray ceiling and linear chandelier.

Private Rooms and Everyday Spaces

A home office is lined with dark custom built-ins and a large garden window. The primary bath is finished in large-format marble-look tile, with a frameless glass shower, a freestanding tub and a long vanity. A finished lower level adds a lounge with a two-sided tiled fireplace, and a mudroom with open lockers, a bench and shoe storage handles daily traffic.

Outdoor Living

The covered porch is the center of outdoor life. It has a tongue-and-groove ceiling, ceiling fans, a stacked stone fireplace with a mounted screen, and an outdoor kitchen with a grill and dining area facing the pool. Past the pool, a fire pit terrace, sport court and netted batting cage give the family room to play without leaving home.
